So please, oh please, we beg, we pray
Go throw your TV set away
And in its place you can install
A lovely bookshelf on the wall…

Thanks to Madison Church of the Nazarene, we have a windfall of books to happily repurpose.

This past week, East Park Community Center has received books, as well as Gartland Child Development Center, both in our beloved East Nashville. We are so happy knowing that the kids of all ages who frequent these facilities will benefit from a new stash of books!

Blessings thinly disguised

Uncategorized

This week, LoveBooks received two requests for a set of encyclopedias.  Also this week, we were approached to receive a massive donation of books…. including somewhere around 10 sets of encyclopedias.  Have I mentioned that we’ve never received a single encyclopedia up to this point?  It’s just another example of prayers that are petitioned in the name of giving, answered with miraculous clarity.

A huge thanks goes to the Madison Church of the Nazarene, which donated those three van loads of books, left over from their now-defunct school.  Equally exciting is the learning experience that boxing and loading all those books became to several young volunteers.

How cool that LoveBooks is not only benefiting the children that receive the books, but it is serving as tool to demonstrate the joy to be found in serving others.

It was a huge service project and undertaking, accomplished by some tough women and children volunteers.

LoveBooks has additionally donated to an outstanding community effort called Corner to Corner in McFerrin Park (East Nashville).

If you haven’t heard of Corner to Corner, prepare to be inspired.  Founded by Tiffany and Will Acuff, it is a program that embodies the concept of loving your neighbor.  The Acuffs and the Corner to Corner volunteers live out their commitment to be invested into the youth in the McFerrin Park neighborhood.  Organizing and providing tutoring, mentoring, Bible studies…even welcoming neighborhood kids into their homes; this is where the rubber hits the road. Watch this short Corner to Corner video to learn more.

LoveBooks has donated a supply of books to the McFerrin Park Rec Center as well as to the Little Free Library in front of the Acuff’s home.

As always, we are so grateful to be a small part of the amazing things that are being done to empower and love our Nashville youth!  Thanks to all those who have donated books and donated time.  You made this happen!

LoveBooks Presents to the Chamber of Commerce

Uncategorized

Word is getting out!  Health and life insurance agency owner Eric Jans presented the concept and ministry behind LoveBooks to the Nashville Chamber of Commerce at their monthly First Wednesday Coffee.

Coincidentally, Book’em, a similar organization that also collects and distributes books for disadvantaged children, also presented.

So what’s the distinction between LoveBooks and Book’em? Book’em focuses more on distributing books to larger organizations like schools. They also go into schools and read to the students and develop relationships with kids. How awesome is that?

It was wonderful getting the chance to bring awareness to the intention and hope behind LoveBooks as well as meeting the people from Book’em. We’re looking forward to working with them in some capacity in the future!
